Along the historical Moçambique channel lies tropical Ilha de Benguerra.  It is here that Benguerra Lodge – a unique and incomparable African island paradise – is washed by the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

The Lodge is small and intimate and offers genuine hospitality, personalised service and an intimate knowledge of the natural environment. It has a rich East African/Arabic feel – evinced in both the décor, and the unique and delectable food. The rooms all merge naturally into the surrounding forest and are only moments from the gorgeous silver-white beach of Benguerra Bay.

Accommodation:

Benguerra Lodge offers three different kinds of accommodation in the way of Cabanas, Casitas & Luxury Villas.

The Cabanas are built right on the edge of the beach and each Cabana boasts a king-sized bed, a large bathroom with bath, shower and outdoor shower, a mosquito net and overhead fan, private deck with jacuzzi/plunge pool and sun loungers, a mini-bar and tea & coffee making facilities.

The Casitas offer home away from home luxury and are furnished with a queen size bed, a lounge area, timber deck with private plunge pool and a starlight dining area.

The villa at Benguerra offers exclusive luxury and it boasts two double bedrooms, mosquito nets and overhead fans, en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower, intimate lounge and dining area fitted with hand carved mahogany furniture, personal chef, private wooden deck with a swimming pool, private garden and beach access.

Fishing/Activities:

At Benguerra Lodge, specific attention is paid to the needs of the angler, no matter whether he or she is experienced or trying their hand for the first time – nor whether the objective is shallow water flyfishing or deep sea patrolling. A variety of sought-after game species is available throughout the year and flyfishers, in particular, can enjoy fast action at times, battling it out with a variety of Kingfish (trevally), King- and Queen Mackerel, Kawakawa, Queenfish and Springer. There is also the possibility of the much sought-after Bonefish, but they are elusive and to date have only been hooked in deeper water. Another recent development is the capture and release of sailfish on fly.

There are currently two flyfishing boats with experienced guides as well as four 22 ft. fully equipped Acecats for anglers in search of marlin and sailfish.

The Lodge also offers a variety of other activities including dhow cruises, castaway picnics, landrover trips, bird watching, island walks, village visits, sea kayaking, yacht day trips and horse riding
